Placemaking / Student Folio – 1st Year / Project 1

The Task:

To write a 1500 – 2000 word about a place that is special to us and through that writing and 2 x accompanying graphic panels (of which only 50% could be digital media), to invoke in the reader a sense of what it feels like to be in that place. In essence, ‘placemaking’ is the art of taking ‘space’ and investing it with meaning. I have reproduced the text from the written panel under the graphics panel for those interested in reading it 🙂

A lot of the imagery in the visual panels comes from the written text – this was another of my favourite assignments from 2012. It’s not often you get to be so emotive and expressive in a written piece in my particular profession!
