Visualisation / Student Folio – 1st Year / Project 3

The Task:

To construct an abstract model from 1 x sheet of A2 size 1mm thick cardboard. There was to be no gluing, taping or permanent fixing. The model had to be able to be deconstructed and folded flat again at the end of each session. There were to be no parts cut away from the cardboard – it had to form the complete sheet again when deconstructed. That model was then to be sketched in an abstract way and (roughly) scaled technical drawings were to be attempted. The final element of the assessment was to take interesting model photographs and interpret these into manually collaged artworks, showing the abstract model as ‘a building’… the aim of the exercise was to convey scale, texture, light, mood and context.
